MenoMap Privacy Policy

Effective date: 27 July 2026

MenoMap is developed by Trienics (“we,” “us,” “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the MenoMap app collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. By using MenoMap, you agree to the practices described below.

Important: MenoMap Is Not Medical Advice

MenoMap is a wellness and educational tool, not a medical device and not a substitute for professional care. Its symptom-tracking, nutrient-logging, and insight features are designed only to help you notice possible patterns between the foods you eat and the menopause symptoms you report — for example, whether logging magnesium-rich foods lines up with better self-reported sleep scores. These features:

  • Do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent menopause, perimenopause, or any medical condition or symptom.
  • Do not provide medical, nutritional, or clinical advice tailored to your individual health situation.
  • Should never replace consultation with a doctor, dietitian, or other qualified healthcare provider — including before starting, stopping, or changing HRT, medication, supplements, or exercise routines.

If you have concerns about your symptoms, always speak to a qualified healthcare professional.

1. Our Core Privacy Principle

MenoMap is built on a “local-first” design. The health, nutrition, symptom, and progress data you enter in the app — your logged nutrients, symptom scores, weight entries, protein/water intake, exercise toggles, dietary preferences, allergens, HRT status, and garden/streak progress — is stored only on your device and is never uploaded to our servers or shared with third parties. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data permanently deletes this information, as we do not hold a copy.

2. Information We Collect

Account information. MenoMap requires an account to use the app, created either with an email address and password, or via Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. This account is used solely to let you log in and is limited to your email address and/or the identifier provided by Apple/Google. Your in-app health and nutrition data (described above) is not attached to this account on any server — it stays on your device.

Onboarding and profile information. During setup you provide information such as your menopause phase, top symptoms, goals, weight, activity level, dietary preferences, allergens, and HRT status. This is used only to personalise your in-app experience and is stored locally on your device.

Diagnostic and crash data. MenoMap uses Expo Application Services (EAS) for app delivery and stability. Expo may automatically collect limited technical/diagnostic information — such as device model, operating system version, app version, and crash logs — to help us identify and fix bugs. This diagnostic data does not include your health, symptom, or nutrition entries.

Notifications. Reminder notifications (e.g. a daily logging nudge, weekly focus prompt) are scheduled entirely on your device using your locally stored data. No notification content or personal data is sent through a push server.

3. How We Use Information

We use the limited information described above only to:

  • Authenticate you and maintain your account login
  • Operate and personalise the app on your device
  • Diagnose crashes and improve app stability
  • Communicate with you if you contact us directly (e.g. support requests)

We do not use your data for advertising, and MenoMap does not display third-party ads.

4. Legal Basis for Processing Health Information

Where privacy laws require a lawful basis for processing sensitive or health-related information (for example, under GDPR Article 9), we rely on your explicit consent: you choose to enter menopause-phase, symptom, HRT, and nutrition information during onboarding and daily use, and that information is then processed locally on your own device at your direction. You may withdraw this consent at any time by deleting the relevant entries in the app, disabling optional features (such as weight tracking, which is off by default), or uninstalling the app.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell or “share” your information for cross-context advertising purposes. We disclose limited data only to:

  • Apple / Google — if you choose Sign in with Apple or Google, they process your authentication per their own privacy policies.
  • Expo Application Services — for app hosting, updates, and crash/diagnostic reporting, per Expo’s privacy policy.
  • Legal requirements — if required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MenoMap, our users, or others.

No health, symptom, or nutrition data is shared with any of the above, because it never leaves your device.

6. Sensitive Health Information & Special Category Data

MenoMap lets you track menopause-related symptoms and wellness information (e.g. hot flashes, sleep, mood, HRT status). Under laws such as the GDPR (health data as “special category data”) and various US state health-privacy laws (which broadly define “consumer health data”), this information receives heightened protection. As explained above:

  • This data is stored locally on your device only and is not transmitted to, or accessible by, Trienics, our service providers, or any third party.
  • You are in full control of it: you can view, edit, or delete any entry at any time within the app, and uninstalling the app permanently deletes it.
  • We do not use geofencing, do not infer your location from health data, and do not use this data for advertising.

7. International Data Transfers

Because your health and nutrition data stays on your device, it is not transferred internationally by us. Limited account and diagnostic information (described in Section 2) may be processed by Apple, Google, or Expo on servers located outside your country of residence, in accordance with those providers’ own privacy policies and safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses, where applicable).

8. Your Regional Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. Because your health and usage data lives only on your device, you can exercise most of these directly in the app (view, edit, or delete your entries) or by uninstalling the app; for account-level requests, contact us using the details in Section 12.

European Economic Area / United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR). You have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data, to data portability, to object to processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).

California (CCPA/CPRA). California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it), and to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Other US states (e.g. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Washington). Several states have enacted comprehensive privacy laws, and Washington’s My Health My Data Act specifically regulates “consumer health data.” Consistent with these laws, we obtain your consent before processing health data, do not sell consumer health data, and will honour requests to access or delete your information to the extent it is held by us (as opposed to stored solely on your device).

Canada (PIPEDA). You have the right to access and request correction of your personal information, and to know how it is used and disclosed.

Australia (Privacy Act 1988 / Australian Privacy Principles). You have rights to access and correct your personal information and to complain if you believe it has been mishandled.

South Africa (POPIA). You have the right to be notified of data collection, to access and correct your information, and to object to or request deletion of your personal information, subject to POPIA’s requirements.

Brazil (LGPD) and other jurisdictions. You may have similar rights to confirmation, access, correction, deletion, and data portability. If your jurisdiction is not listed above, we will still endeavour to honour reasonable, verifiable privacy requests to the extent data is held by us.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

  • In-app data (symptoms, nutrition logs, garden progress, etc.) persists only on your device for as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling the app deletes it permanently.
  • Account data (email address / Apple or Google identifier) is retained until you request account deletion. To request deletion of your account, contact us at the email below.

10. Children’s Privacy

MenoMap is designed for adult women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause. It is not directed at, and is not knowingly used by, children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with account information, contact us so we can delete it.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect account information. Because your health and nutrition data is stored locally on your device rather than on our servers, its security also depends on your device’s own security (e.g. passcode, encryption, backups you choose to enable).

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect new regional legal requirements. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Effective date” at the top of this page. Continued use of MenoMap after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
